Why is the U.S.A. not a free country anymore? And why are they proud? (I dont care its for a sociology thing)?

All these americans were chanting USA in the streets when osama was supposedly thrown in the ocean so they could be on the news right? It doesnt make much sense that they would chant it unless of course they wanted to fit in or be on tv because in the process to throwing a body in an ocean they watched a country based on freedom become the opposite. I dont think anyone will be very fascinated by this paper but it has to be written.
