Why does religion freak me out?(serious question)?

why does religion freak me out? when i used to go to church people would "feel the holy presence" and then pass out? and when i see people on a rug bowing or chanting or meditating all of it freaks me out, i believe anything imagined will be created eventually so in a way i believe in all gods but why does worship freak me out at times? :S
