Will the spider spawn monster spawner? Minecraft?

Im on peaceful mode on minecraft , in cave which I fell into. I look around and see a spider , whirling around in circles in a monster spawner. This is my first encounter of a monster spawner , and im just wondering will the spider auctually spawn?
